Find the perfect match for your West Country Cheddar

Almost everyone enjoys a nice chunk of cheese and a tipple, especially at Christmas. But what are the best drinks to enhance the flavour of the tasty handmade West Country Farmhouse Cheddars?

Although we are world renowned for creating delicious traditional Cheddar, we're very open to matching it with some quite unconventional drinks. While ports and red wines are a good match for our Cheddars, we've teamed up with award-winning wine writer and broadcaster, Susy Atkins, to discover what else is a perfect partner. Between now and Christmas, Susy and Dom Lane (cheese lover and judge at the British Cheese Awards) will be talking to a number of radio stations across the country. They'll offer an insight into the spectrum of flavours of our authentic handmade Cheddar, offering sage advice on matching Cheddar with great wines, beers, and sherries, and providing hints and tips for the listeners' own Christmas Cheeseboards.

In case you don't catch them on air, we'll be posting some of the tips from Susy and Dom on our news pages over the next few days. And remember, our Christmas cut off point for online orders is 16th December so place your order here soon…

Royal ploughmans for the Countess

After last years washout , the sun shone brightly on The Countess of Wessex as she attended the PDO lunch and presented Parkham farms with cups for both the reserve champion cheese and best PDO West Country Farmhouse cheddar. The show was a triumph for our other farmhouse cheesemakers too with a total of 40 medals and 7 special awards, just rewards for all the care and craftsmanship that goes into all our handmade cheeses.
